POSITION SUMMARY: The Associate Director of Operations for Dahlia Campus for Health and Wellbeing serves as a member of the Child & Family Leadership Team and contributes to assisting the VP of Child and Family with visioning, goal setting, and management of the Dahlia Campus for Health and Well-being at the Mental Health Center of Denver. The position will also assist the Child and Family budget and business operations and the infrastructure that supports those operations. The Associate Director will also help develop and maintain an effective network of community partners and help promote community engagement through creative and inclusive means.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Assisting VP of Child and Family with all following functions:

Operations

  • Monitor program and team budgets, monthly; assist Vice President in annual budgeting activities.
  • Develop and attend to infrastructure that supports the business operations of Dahlia Campus for Health and Wellbeing (i.e. policies and procedures, developing new lines of business to support sustainability, business intelligence reporting, billing workflows, contract monitoring)
  • Supervise Dahlia operations staff (i.e aquaponics, farms and gardens, site coordinator), providing both coaching and administrative supports (i.e. hiring, training, etc.)
  • Actively promote and facilitate the alignment, cohesion and communication among the Dahlia operations staff and the Child & Family clinical staff. Responsible for developing and maintaining a positive and an effective employee relations environment in the building. Responsible for upholding and endorsing the coaching, growth and development of managers and staff. Oversee all hiring, coaching, disciplinary actions taken by supervisees.
  • In collaboration with Child and Family Leadership and community partners, develop and submit grant proposals for the campus and generate revenue from both public and private sources.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure compliance with all State and Federal laws, regulations, and MHCD policies and procedures, including but not limited to supporting the organization’s efforts relating to equal opportunity employment.

Community Engagement

  • Serve as a community liaison by representing the Dahlia Campus for Health and Wellbeing and Child & Family Services at community events and meetings; promote diverse service delivery options, increase understanding of our mission and approach, and invite wide community input and involvement.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned

EDUCATION: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degrees.

EXPERIENCE:  A minimum of three (2) years of experience with program development and/or project management. Experience in assisting budget development and grant writing is preferred.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

    • Demonstrated ability to supervise an experienced multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural staff.
    • Knowledge of rudimentary business skills.
    • Ability to work well with a variety of people, write and communicate effectively.
    • Effective management and leadership skills.
    • Must be computer literate.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Help assist supervision of managers and other staff for the department.

MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT TO BE USED: Computers (including laptop & remote access), calculators, fax machines, copiers, telephone and a variety of other office/clerical equipment.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching. Required manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, the telephone, and other office and/or clerical equipment.

Typical Mental Demands: Ability to give, receive and analyze information, formulate work plans, prepare professionally written materials and articulate goals and action plans. Must understand people from all walks of life and be able to communicate effectively with them.

WORKING CONDITIONS:  This leadership position requires occasional evening and weekend hours.
