Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Provide direct mental health assessments and treatment to Spanish speaking children, adolescents and their families/caregivers.  El Centro de las Familias is a Spanish specialty outpatient clinic that serves people starting from age six through the adult lifespan with mental health diagnoses and occasionally co-occurring substance use disorders.  We work as a clinical team that includes therapists, medical providers, nurse and service coordinator to help individuals reach their goals.

LCSW – $24.86/hr. – $29.81/hr.
Spanish Differential-$2.50/hr.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Provide initial evaluations/problem identification, crisis intervention, and individual, group, and/or family therapy to children, adolescents or adults as assigned.
    • Provide limited case management services as needed.
    • Develop treatment plans; monitor treatment progress and follow-up at disposition times.
    • Coordinate use of other MHCD programs and outside community resources.
    • Coordinate medication/medicinal needs with psychiatrists, nurses, and other medical sources.
    • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records consistent with MHCD standards.
    • Participate in team/department meetings, in-services, and supervision as required.
    • Perform 27-10 (M-1) “mental health hold” evaluations.
    • Possibility of gaining supervisory experience with student externs and/or unlicensed staff.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & LICENSURE:

Master’s Degree in social work, counseling or related field. Current LCSW in the State of Colorado is required. LAC preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum two years of experience providing individual and family therapy to linguistically and culturally diverse people. Experience working with moderate to severe and persistently mentally ill individuals and their families. Experience or interest in providing group therapy a plus. Clinical supervision experience a plus.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
•Knowledge of methods of psychotherapy.
•Knowledge of community resources.
•Ability to assess crisis situations and intervene appropriately.
•Familiarity with the DSM 5 and diagnostic techniques.
•Effective written and verbal communication skills.
•Knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed care principles/practices.
•Computer skills, ability to utilize an electronic health record and use email.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with program supervision of students/other staff to licensure as determined appropriate.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to sit, stand, bend and reach, operate standard office equipment such as phone, computer, facsimile, copier/printer, and other business machines. Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.

TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS:

Ability to give, receive and analyze information, formulate work plans, prepare written materials and articulate goals and action plans. Must understand people from all walks of life and be able to communicate effectively with them.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This is an office-based position located in southwest Denver. Two evenings per week required. No on call or weekends required.
