Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Experience navigating behavioral health services experience or in behavioral health field. Represent the values, mission and goals of the Diversity & Inclusiveness Department. Provide education and training to immigrant and refugee communities. Serve as an advocate and navigator with the goal of increasing behavioral health knowledge within faith communities. Promote engagement and increased access to services for immigrant and refugee Coloradans.

STARTING SALARY:

Bachelor’s Degree - $18.90/hr. - $22.70/hr.

Master’s Degree - $21.13/hr. - $25.37/hr.

 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Understand, support and articulate the values and goals of the Diversity & Inclusiveness department and Faith & Spiritual Inclusiveness program area
  • Documenting pre-admit work in Electronic Health Record.
  • Responsible for researching and recruiting diverse faith communities and leaders for trainings on working with immigrants and refugees who may also have behavioral health needs
  • Work closely with immigrants and refugees and their behavioral health clinicians to help increase access to our services and navigate our systems
  • Help direct the people we serve to the wrap-around auxiliary services that are most appropriate for each individual
  • Complete training on the process of getting myHealthPointe accounts, and on its uses
  • Work with Recovery Center, Dahlia, El Centro and Federal staff to introduce the portal to the people we serve and to staff;
  • Troubleshoot if/as people encountered challenges and/or difficulties with the system;
  • Provide supervisor and Information Systems project manager with user feedback and suggestions for system enhancements
  • Maintain a trauma informed environment of wellbeing.

Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

 

EDUCATION:

Bachelor or Master Degree in psychology, social work, or other related human

services degree.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • One-year experience in mental health or human services preferred.
  • Experience helping immigrants, refugees and asylees navigate healthcare systems preferred.
  • Personal experience with immigrant, refugee or asylee is helpful.
  • Experience working with community-based agencies, faith communities and faith leaders preferred.

 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Knowledge or ability to learn and practice trauma informed principles and practices.
  • Bi- or trilingual candidate preferred (English/Spanish, other)  
  • Strong knowledge of the diverse linguistic, cultural, access and communication needs of the immigrant and refugee populations
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people from all walks of life
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with community members and other community agencies and partners
  • Ability to work as a team member

 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  None

MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:  Computers (including laptop & remote access), calculators, fax machines, copiers, telephone, video phone and other communication access devices and a variety of other office/clerical equipment.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching.  Required manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, the telephone, and other office and/or clerical equipment.

Typical Mental Demands: Ability to give, receive and analyze information, formulate work plans, prepare written materials and articulate goals and action plans.  Must understand people from all walks of life and be able to communicate effectively with them.

WORKING CONDITIONS:   This position requires occasional evening, weekend hours.
