POSITION SUMMARY: Under general direction of the Market Farm Manager, this position works in all aspects of small-scale sustainable food production of the 1-acre farm at the Dahlia Campus for Health and Well-Being. Job includes but is not limited to: planting, mulching, weeding, watering, seeding, trellising, harvesting and other ongoing tasks associated with vegetable production. This position will also support the farm’s outreach, education, and community support programs.
SALARY RANGE: $13.00/hr. - $15.00/hr.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agri-business and or biological sciences preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum two (2) years of experience with small scale farming (volunteer experience accepted).
Working knowledge of organic/sustainable farming practices as well marketing/sales of vegetables and other products.
Experience managing volunteers and working with children (pre-k through 12) and diverse populations.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversight of volunteers at the direction of the Farm Manager.
MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT TO BE USED: BCS 853 Walk-behind tractor, hand tools (including, but not limited to) broadfork, tine weeders, flame weeder, hori-hori, pruning shears, scuffle hoes. and harvest knives; Netafim drip irrigation system, Computers, copiers, telephone and a variety of other office/clerical equipment.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK CONDITIONS:
Ability to physically work within a variety of conditions for long days, in diverse weather conditions (35-100Fº), and requires frequent lifting and carrying of at least 50 pounds.
Requires crouching, kneeling, standing, bending and reaching, ability to use farming equipment/tools.
Handle a wide variety of farm elements including, but not limited to: decomposing plant material, fish waste, finished compost, bacteria, fungus, insects, and fertilizers.
