Job Description

Position Summary: 2Succeed in Education is a psychiatric rehabilitation and supported education program that promotes overall wellness and supports adults in their recovery from mental illness. The ideal candidate will have a working understanding of Psychiatric Rehabilitation philosophy and rehabilitation counseling skills; experience working collaboratively as part of a therapeutic treatment team to support people in recovery; and strong computer skills for required documentation. Responsibilities for this position include supporting people who want community based vocational training and skill training for volunteer assignments, work experiences, part-time or full-time employment. Also, responsible for facilitating orientation for new program participants.

SALARY RANGE:

VC I - $17.90/hr. - $21.48/hr.

VC II - $19.99/hr. - $24.02/hr.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Assist individuals with setting short and long-term learning and wellness goals
  2. Outreach and maintain a caseload of individuals engaged in services
  3. Complete data, reports and clinical documentation as required
  4. Coordinate care between the rehabilitation department and the clinical team
  5. Facilitate orientations for new program participants
  6. Facilitate social activities and special events within the community and the program
  7. Support individuals with educational opportunities and trainings within the program and community
  8. Assist individuals with obtaining community based educational and vocational training programs
  9. Collaborate with individuals we serve to encourage engagement and support recovery
  10. Provide services with a Trauma-Informed approach and crisis intervention and de-escalation when needed
  11. Effectively collaborative with peers to oversee the day to day operations of the program
  12. Be self-motivated and have good time-management skills
  13. Model good communication, healthy working-relationships and appropriate boundaries
  14. Support cultural diversity and encourage inclusiveness of people with different abilities
  15. Ability to transport members to/from activities using agency van
  16. Perform duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Education:          Vocational Counselor I

  • Bachelor degree in rehabilitation or specific job duties with one year of experience preferred.
  • Bachelor degree in related field with one year of vocational experience or experience related to specific job duties preferred.

Vocational Counselor II

  • Masters degree in vocational rehabilitation or specific job duties.
  • Masters degree in related field and one year of vocational experience, or experience related to specific job duties.
  • Bachelors degree in rehabilitation and one year vocational experience, or experience related to specific job duties.
  • Bachelors degree in related field and one year vocational experience or experience related to specific job duties.

***Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner or willingness to obtain certification within one year highly preferred. 

Experience: Mental health experience or similar social/human services experience preferred.

SkillsAbility to teach adult learners, and work with a number of different learning styles. Flexibility to tailor instruction and expectations to individual consumers. Knowledge of vocational community resources and the local community. Proficiency and knowledge of computer technology and resources. Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:              None

MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT TO BE USED: Computers, calculators, fax machines, copiers, telephone and a variety of other office/clerical equipment.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching. May require lifting up to 40 pounds.   Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, the telephone and other office and/or clinical equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS: May require occasional evening or weekend hours.
